Arjun Tendulkar’s team got their first win, Mumbai failed to win even with strong tackles from Yashasvi

The 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season continues and now almost all the teams have played 4-4 matches. In this episode, Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar’s Goa picked up their first win after three straight draws. Goa beat Kerala by seven wickets in their fourth match. Mohit Redkar took six wickets for 73 runs in the second innings. Kerala were bowled out for 200 in the second innings, leaving Goa with a target of 155 runs. Ishan Gadekar (67 not out) and Siddhesh Lad (33 not out) shared a 68-run partnership to give the team an emphatic 7 wicket victory.

Talking about Arjun Tendulkar’s performance in this match, in the first innings he took two wickets for 49 runs in 16.3 overs with two maidens. In turn, he could only contribute 6 runs with the bat. After this his batting did not come in the second innings and in bowling he went on to bowl only 3 overs and was unable to take any wickets. However, in the opening match of the season, Arjun Tendulkar made headlines by scoring a century on his Ranji debut. His father Sachin Tendulkar also did the same feat in 1988. Arjun played an innings of 120 against Rajasthan.

Mumbai couldn’t win even with Yashasvi’s tickets

The Mumbai side failed to win the Ranji Trophy Pool B match against Tamil Nadu even after aggressive half-century innings from young Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (66 not out from 60 balls). Mumbai fell 74 runs away from victory. Chasing 212 for the win, when Mumbai were 137 for three in 24.2 overs, both captains agreed to draw the match. Earlier, Tamil Nadu, batting ahead of the previous day’s score of 380 for four, batted in two sessions and after adding 168 runs, the entire team was sacked. Pradosh Ranjan scored an unbeaten 107 for Tamil Nadu while Vijay Shankar contributed 103 runs off 174 balls.

What was the result of other matches?

In other matches, mid-pace Vijaykumar Visakh’s first-class five-wicket first haul helped Karnataka beat Chhattisgarh by seven wickets in their Ranji Trophy Group C match. The Chhattisgarh team, playing ahead of their score of 35 for two yesterday, could not cope with Visakh’s bowling. Andhra Pradesh beat Hyderabad by 154 runs in another match, while Assam and Maharashtra ended in a draw. While Services beat Puducherry by five wickets in Delhi, Jharkhand and Rajasthan finished in a draw in Jaipur.
