Argentinos Juniors marked the differences with Deportivo Armenio, from the B Metropolitana, which they thrashed 3-0 in La Plata to advance to the 16th. final of the Argentine Cup.
At the Gimnasia y Esgrima stadium, Argentinos, a team that has Gabriel Milito -the technical director with the longest working time-, faced Deportivo Armenio, where Cristian Grabinski made his coaching debut a week ago.
The winner’s goals were converted into two opportunities by Gabriel Avalos, the second from a penalty, and Gastón Verón.
Milito ordered some changes such as the debut of Alexis Martín Arias (just former Gymnastics) in the goal, after passing through Chilean soccer, and the income of Rodrigo Cabral, Fabricio Domínguez and Gastón Verón.
Argentinos quickly imposed the difference in category when after three minutes their midfielders triangulated from the left, González Metilli overflowed and put a cross at the near post that Avalos sent into the back of the net with a header.
Armenian waited far behind and two minutes later Avalos created danger with another header, but this time the cross was thrown from the right.
Armenian continued to wait far behind, close to his goalkeeper, while those led by Milito sought to score the second goal, controlling the game without hot flashes until the end of the first half.
In the second half, Armenian came out with a different attitude, but Argentinos pressed from the start and locked up their rival, and in that siege, after five minutes the team led by Grabinski suffered a penalty committed against Cabral that Avalos changed for a goal.
Milito made changes to take care of players, while Grabinski looked for the miracle and to meet his footballers, with whom he has been working for just over seven days. At 18 minutes, Santiago Montiel, cousin of the World Champion in Qatar 2022, Gonzalo Montiel, made a phenomenal stack on the edge of the area and served the cross to Verón, who sent it inside for the third of those from La Paternal.
