Argentina calls for a ceasefire

One year after the conflict in Ukraine, the Argentine government condemned the Russian invasion and reiterated “the urgent call for a cessation of hostilities and to resume the negotiating table, the only way to achieve a lasting peace.”

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry led by the Minister santiago cafiero (photo), “Argentina reaffirms its commitment to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of States and human rights, permanent axes of our country’s foreign policy. It rejects the use of force as a mechanism to resolve conflicts and, in this sense, reiterates its condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory.”

“The Argentine government notes with concern the announcement made in recent days that refers to the suspension by Russia of the bilateral nuclear disarmament agreement that it maintains with the United States.further increasing the danger of a new escalation, this time of nuclear dimensions,” add the text.
