Apple may equip future iPads with titanium chassis

A few weeks ago, we heard rumors about Apple’s plans to equip the iPhone 14 with a titanium frame.

While this change would certainly improve the smartphone’s rigidity, the current iPhone 12 is already a rugged device that can only bend with considerable force.

iPads, on the other hand, they can be folded quite easily, as we’ve seen in some videos. With a titanium alloy chassis, Apple can improve the iPad’s strength.

In addition to greater rigidity, Titanium alloy is also more scratch resistant than stainless steel and aluminum, which in general makes it a much more attractive material for mobile devices.

However, the report of DigiTimes says the production of titanium chassis for smartphones and tablets is not economically viable, then the company could still be evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of changing material.

In conclusion, it could take several years for Apple to equip its iPads and iPhones with a tough titanium alloy frame.
