Another Movistar bombshell for 2022: Iván Ramiro Sosa arrives

The Movistar team continues with its great renewal for the 2022 season and this Wednesday he announced one of those that will be one of the great novelties for the next year: the signing of the young Colombian cyclist Iván Ramiro Sosa, 24 years old and arriving from Ineos-Grenadiers. Sosa is Movistar’s sixth signing for 2022 after the arrivals of Óscar Rodríguez, Max Kanter, Alex Aranburu, Oier Lazkano and Gorka Izagirre.

In this way, Movistar becomes one of the great climbers of the world peloton despite his youth. Some skills as a climber that Sosa already demonstrated during his first two years as a professional at Androni-Giocattoli and that helped him make the jump to Ineos in 2018, where he has shone in races in one-week stages but where he has barely had a leading role in the big tours. In this way Sosa is emerging as one of the great supports for Enric Mas in the great tours and, at the same time, he will have his own opportunities in the great events of the calendar, where he will try to shine in the mountains.

Sosa’s record includes prestigious triumphs such as the general of the Vuelta a Burgos in 2018 and 2019, in addition to three stage victories in the Lagunas de Neila between 2018 and 2020; the general of the Sibiu Tour and the Adriatica Ionica Race in 2018 and the stage of the Chalet Reynard, on Mont Ventoux, and the general stage of the Tour de La Provence in this season 2021 ahead of Julian Alaphilippe and Egan Bernal.

In statements collected by the Movistar team, Sosa himself was very excited about this new adventure. “Very excited to join the Movistar Team. Looking forward to meeting the team members and starting to integrate with this good group of people. I come wanting to show the runner that I am, help my teammates and always be there, with constancy. I hope I can offer you many satisfactions and that these years for the team are full of joys and victories, which is what we all want. “
