Bayern are still without a win so far this year and had their third consecutive draw this Saturday, 1-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt, so their advantage in the Bundesliga over the second, Union Berlin, is now only one. point.
The tie adds to those of the past days, by the same score, against Leipzig and against Cologne and the Bavarians once again had problems generating clear chances.
Bayern made three changes from Wednesday’s draw against Cologne. Benjamin Pavard, Leon Goretzka -due to injury- and Serge Gnabry were left out to make way for Josip Stasinic, Thomas Müller and Kingsley Coman.
From the beginning, Bayern seized the ball. Eintracht defended quite withdrawn and closed spaces, which made it difficult for Bayern to arrive during the first minutes.
Going forward, Eintracht tried quick counterattacks to recover the ball. For avoiding one of them Mathjis de Light had to carry a yellow card from minute 8.
When the opposite area appeared, Eintracht was dangerous. Bayern showed unusual precision in passing.
Only after the first half hour of the game did Bayern begin to show finer near the opposite area. In minute 30 a good combination of Müller and Choupo Moting ended with a blocked shot from the former inside the area.
In minute 31 Joshua Kimmich attempted a shot from distance that goalkeeper Kevin Trapp half-stopped with his fists. The rebound was left to Müller whose second shot was met with a good save by Trapp.
In minute 34 the Bayern goal came. Sané scored with a shot from his right foot inside the area from Müller’s cross.
