Anna Villar, new Spanish BTT coach

The Catalan Anna Villar has become this Thursday the new women’s national coach of the BTT modality (All Terrain Bicycles), as confirmed by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC).

The Board of Directors of the organisom decided that from now on the ex-cyclist will be responsible for the women’s mountain bike of all its modalities and categories, and will premiere this Thursday coinciding with the beginning of the concentration that celebrates the BTT team in Alcoy (Alicante).

Until this appointment, it was Mikel Zabala who served as male and female coach, so now he will only be in charge of the first modality, in addition to continuing his work at the head of the national U23 men’s road team.

Anna Villar has worked in recent years as a technician in the Catalan Cycling Federation after having completed a great career as a cyclist until 2017; year in which she was forced to retire due to a heart condition.

In fact, The Catalan was twice champion of Spain Elite XCO, in 2010 in Barcelona and in 2012 in Lorca, in addition to achieving multiple titles of champion of Spain of ‘Team Relay’ and of champion of Catalonia of XCO.
