An Australian millionaire will create a replica of the Titanic

Australian millionaire Clive Palmer announced that he plans to build a replica of the Titanic, the famous British passenger ship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1912.

The mining magnate said that the Titanic II will have the same interior and cabin design as the original, but its safety system will be modern and feature 21st century technology.

“It will be the boat of love and the ultimate in style and luxury,” Palmer said of the boat.

Managed by cruise line Blue Star Line, this replica of the Titanic is designed to offer passengers “an unparalleled journey through time, fully immersing them in the opulence and splendor of life aboard the original Titanic.”

The ship will be 269 meters long, capable of carrying around 2,435 passengers and will have nine levels including luxurious cabins and dining rooms, swimming pools, a ballroom and a casino, among others.

Palmer attempted to launch the Titanic II project in 2012 and 2018, but both times the plan was halted due to funding issues.

It is not the first time that the millionaire has created eccentric constructions, as in 2013 he opened a huge park with replicas of gigantic animatronic dinosaurs on his property in the northeastern state of Queensland.

The story also made it to the big screen and undoubtedly one of the most famous in the world was that of filmmaker James Cameron with the ship of the same name in 1997, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
