An assailant kills several people with bow and arrows in Norway

A man armed with a bow and arrows he killed several people and injured others on Wednesday near the Norwegian capital Oslo before being arrested, authorities said.

The Kongsberg City Police Chief said there was "a confrontation" between the officers and the assailant, but did not elaborate. He said there were several deaths, but did not offer details.

The man has not yet been questioned, Aas said.

City officials invited those affected by the attack and their families to gather for support at a local hotel.
