A stabbing incident in Amsterdam left five people injured. The attacker was caught with the help of locals and authorities.
The incident happened on Thursday, March 27, 2022, in the city’s central area. A small part of the Dam Square was closed off for investigation and to tend to the injured. One of the victims was airlifted to the hospital.
Dutch police haven’t revealed details about the victims or the attacker’s motive. The attacker was also hospitalized due to injuries.
Eyewitnesses described hearing screams and chaos. A local shop owner said they heard shouting and screams, and then people started running away.
A witness helped a girl who was crying after hearing screams. Someone yelled to call an ambulance. The witness saw a knife stuck in the girl’s back.
Police are asking for anyone with photos or videos of the incident to come forward and help with the investigation.
