Today is the 30th anniversary of the death of Gabbar of Sholay, that is, Amjad Khan. He was born on November 12, 1940 in Bombay into a Pashtuni Muslim family. His father was actor Jayant Khan. Amjad’s younger brother is actor Imtiaz Khan. He began his acting career as a stage artist. Then, at the age of 11, he first worked in the 1951 film Nazneen. Amjad’s acting career was not going well.
In such a situation, he also saw a time when the child was born at home for the first time, then he had no money to pay for hospital expenses. But how long Amjad’s fate would remain sad with him. That also changed when he got the movie Sholay. It was the period of 1975 when the movie Sholay was released. This movie made Amjad an overnight star. Every line of Amjad’s in the film became such a hit that it is still on people’s lips today.
Amjad has acted in some 132 films in his career. Although Amjad used to mold himself in whatever role he was in, but in Sholay’s Gabbar Singh and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, he played the role of Dilawar in such a way that his name was recorded in history. But the bad stage of Amjad’s life came when he had a very dangerous accident. Amjad was on his way to Goa to film the movie The Great Gambler, but he missed his flight, so he decided to drive instead. When he was driving, a truck hit him.
This collision was so dangerous that even the bones in Amjad’s body were broken in this accident. During treatment, Amjad slipped into a coma. Later, when he recovered, he had to take the support of a wheelchair. After a few days, Amjad’s weight began to increase rapidly. Then one day he died of a heart attack. At that time, Amjad was only 47 years old. Amjad may have said goodbye to the world, but the memories of him are still fresh in people’s minds.
