Aluminum, scrap metal and plastic are the main pollutants in Nicaragua, as reported this Friday by the Center for Research and Environmental Training Training (CICFA), during the celebration of the National Earth Fair 2023.

Although Nicaragua has legislation that includes solid waste managementthe mismanagement of the same and the dispersed efforts on the subject cause aluminum, scrap metal and plastic to continue contaminating the Central American country, the CICFA coordinator, Raomir Manzanares, told EFE.

“The impact that solid waste is currently generating is enormous and the wills to be able to deal with this issue are dispersed,” said Manzanares, during the 21st edition of the National Earth Fair.

Manzanares made a call to add “efforts to address the management of this solid waste as a national security situation.”

During the National Land Fair, organized by the Young Environmentalists Club and business organizations71 spaces on good environmental practices in Nicaragua were exhibited.

At the fair, which had the motto “Innovation, climate change and communities”, plants were given away and keynote talks on environmental conservation were given.
