Almudena Cid: “It has been very exciting to run through the streets of my city”

Almudena Cid was today one of the outstanding protagonists of the Women’s Race that took place this Sunday in Vitoria-Gasteiz, forming part of the Sports Santander team. The former gymnast joined the solidarity cause of the pink tide, which in its fourth date on the national circuit brought together more than 3,000 participants in the Basque capital, sponsored by Banco Santander.

“I’m not used to running, although I do a lot of sport,” said Almudena Cid, “and it has been very exciting, because I was remembering family and friends who have gone through this disease and it has given me a lot of encouragement to continue. In addition, initiatives like this are very important so that women continue to join the world of sport, that they find time for themselves, to play sports and take better care of themselves. I have had a great time running through the streets of my city”, stressed the former rhythmic gymnast with four participations in the Olympic Games, leading the Sports Santander team.

The festive and charitable competition started at 10:30 am from the Mendizabala car park where the race started and finished, which consisted of a 5.5 kilometer route. Once again, the Banco Santander and Pulseras Rosas stand was the center of donations of the ‘pigtails’ of hair delivered by the runners for those women who cannot afford something as simple as a wig during cancer treatment.
