Australian cricket legend Allan Border wants Travis Head to do better against spin to be successful during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series against India on the subcontinent. However, this brilliant middle order batsman did well in the Ashes series, scoring two centuries. But this year in Asia, he has scored only 91 runs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka at an average of 15.17 with the highest score of 26.
Significantly, the Australian team, which will tour India early next year for a Test series, is keen to end its Test series win drought in the country. He has won just one event in India since 2004.
Border feels that Head may prove to be a better hitter. He always makes some good strategies against the spinners. Border, who scored 1,799 Test runs at 54.51, including six centuries in Asia, said he spoke with Head and asked the batsman to keep a few things in mind as he played the sweep shot.
Border quoted Cricket.com.au as saying, “I’ve talked to him a little bit about hitting in the wickets. He has to learn to swing well and he has to use his feet properly.”
