Aldosivi from Mar del Plata defeated Lanús, in Frank Darío Kudelka’s debut as coach, in the framework of an eventful match due to a hard clash of heads between Iván Cazal and Ian Escobar.
The winning goal was scored by Uruguayan Santiago Silva 46 minutes into the second half, in the match played at the Ciudad de Lanús stadium. The duel was delayed for about 20 minutes due to a hard and shocking clash of heads between Iván Cazal and Ian Escobar.
Aldosivi’s defender had to be transferred by ambulance and the match was not resumed until the paramedics returned to the stadium.
The game also had an active participation of the VAR that called referee Pablo Dóvalo twice, who after checking both plays decided on his first impression on the field of play.
The first was seven minutes into the first half due to a shot by Diego Braghieri on Leandro Maciel that ended in a yellow card for the local defender.
Already in the second half, Fernando Espinoza, in charge of the VAR, called Dóvalo for a possible penalty by Nicolás Valentini on Lautaro Acosta but the referee dismissed it.
In the first minute of injury time, the visitor took advantage of a defensive oversight by Lanús and the Uruguayan Silva scored the winning goal. Leandro Somoza’s team returned to victory after three defeats and a draw and temporarily managed to get out of the relegation zone.
Lanús, in Kudelka’s debut, was last in the standings with just six points and has gone seven dates without winning.
After an almost emotionless first half, the highlight of the match happened in the second half.
The locals could not break Aldosivi’s defensive bolt but at 41 they had their clearest opportunity with a header from José Sand on the crossbar. However, a few minutes later, at 46, the experienced player who was able to break the zero was the Uruguayan Silva, with an accurate definition inside the area after a cross from Juan Manuel Cuesta.
