Delhi Capitals Defeat Chennai Super Kings by 25 Runs

The Delhi Capitals have taken down the Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs, securing their third consecutive win in the IPL 2025 season. Chennai, on the other hand, is reeling from their third straight loss.

In this match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Delhi batted first, compiling 183 runs. In response, Chennai’s entire team managed only 158 runs. Although Vijay Shankar scored a half-century with 69 runs, his slow strike rate of 127.78 proved costly for his team.

With a target of 184 runs, Chennai’s start was dismal, losing key players Rachin Ravindra, Rituraj Gaekwad, and Devon Conway early on. Vijay Shankar came in at fourth and though he scored 69, he took 43 balls to reach his fifty. In the last five overs, Chennai needed 78 runs to win, but Shankar struggled to time the ball, failing to hit big shots when it mattered most.

The Delhi Capitals are on a roll, having defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by one wicket, then the Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets, and now the Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs. Chennai, after starting the season with a four-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians, has since lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, and now the Delhi Capitals.

MS Dhoni also came in to bat for Chennai in the 11th over, scoring an unbeaten 30 runs off 26 balls with just one four and one six. His strike rate of 115.38 was also slow, contributing to Chennai’s loss. The pressure was on Dhoni to lead his team to a memorable win, but it wasn’t meant to be.
