Akshaye Khanna’s 2021 OTT film re-releases in theaters with new title

Akshaye Khanna is all set to return to the big screen with a film that was initially released on an OTT platform four years ago. The movie, which was earlier titled “State of Siege: Temple Attack,” will now be released in theaters under a new title, “Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti.” The film’s makers have announced its theatrical release on July 4, 2025, sharing a poster on social media.

The poster gives a glimpse of the temple’s pillars with a silhouette of a commando in the background. It comes with a caption that reads, “An act of terror met with unmatched bravery. The story of courage, sacrifice, and survival comes alive in #AkshardhamOperationVajraShakti.” The tweet was shared by Zee Studios, along with a release date and hashtags including #AkshayeKhanna.

“Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti” is directed by Ken Ghosh and is based on the true story of the 2002 terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple in Gujarat and the counter-operation by India’s National Security Guard (NSG) to neutralize the terrorists. This film is a standalone sequel to the web series “State of Siege: 26/11,” which was based on the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

In the movie, Akshaye Khanna plays the role of NSG officer Major Hanut Singh, while other notable actors like Gautam Rode, Vivek Dahiya, Akshay Oberoi, and Abhilash Chaudhary are part of the cast. The film promises to tell a gripping story of bravery and sacrifice, and its release in theaters is highly anticipated by fans and movie enthusiasts alike.
