The highly anticipated film “Sky Force,” starring Akshay Kumar and Vivek Phadnis, hit theaters on January 24, coinciding with Republic Day. Despite raking in a net collection of 113.60 crores domestically and a worldwide gross of 149.99 crores, the movie proved to be a box office flop due to its substantial budget of 160 crores. For a while now, the film has been available for rent on OTT platforms, but it’s now gearing up for a free release without rent.
Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapoor and Sandeep Kevlani, “Sky Force” boasts an ensemble cast, including Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan, in addition to Akshay and Vivek. The movie is based on the 1965 Indo-Pak air strike, where India launched a bombing raid on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase.

Currently, “Sky Force” is available for rent on Amazon Prime Video. However, starting March 21, 2025, it will be available for streaming on the same platform for all subscribers.
The story of “Sky Force”
The film tells the story of Squadron Leader T Vijay’s sacrifice. During the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Pakistan launched an attack on Indian Air Force bases using fighter planes provided by the US. Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja, played by Akshay Kumar, is tasked with leading a retaliatory strike along with his team. Although the Indian Air Force had less powerful fighter jets compared to Pakistan’s advanced aircraft, Ahuja and his team successfully execute a surprise attack on Pakistan’s heavily fortified Sargodha airbase, destroying several enemy fighter planes.
However, Squadron Leader T Vijay, played by Vivek Phadnis, fails to return to base after the mission, and his plane is reported destroyed. Wing Commander Ahuja is unable to come to terms with the loss of his comrade and sets out to search for him.
