Rami Abdulrahman, head of the Syrian Observatory, told AFP that Iranian weapons were on the trucks, while at least two similar convoys arrived in Syria from Iraq this week carrying weapons for pro-Iranian groups in al-Mayadeen.

It should be noted that Tehran provides military support in the form of weapons and armed fighters to its ally Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war.

Omar Abu Laila, head of local media outlet Deir Ezzor 24, told AFP on Monday that the attacks also targeted a convoy of trucks and the headquarters of Iran-backed groups in the area.
