The presence of three imported players, including veteran Cuban outfielder Yoenis Céspedes, will be the main attraction at the start of practices for the 22-time national champions, with a view to the campaign scheduled to start on Saturday, October 15 in memory of Tomás Troncoso Cost.
Ángel Ovalles, general manager of the eaglet team, projects that training sessions will begin with the appearance of a large group of young people, who will join the bulk of veteran players who will be in action since the beginning of the campaign.
Ovalles confirmed that several of those veteran players who are physically preparing to go into action at the opening of the season have been in this city for several days. “The training sessions that will be directed from the beginning by manager José Leger, and his coaching staff, for the first time will have the presence of great figures who will help create a winning culture and mystique for the Cibaeño team,” Ovalles said. .
The list of players who open the eaglet camp is headed by captain Juan Carlos Pérez, around whom will be Melky Cabrera, Ramón Torres, Ronny Rodríguez, Aneury Tavarez and Luis Valenzuela.
Joining the core of Cuban veterans is the stellar and seasoned Cuban pitcher Yunesky Maya, who will wear the eagle shirt for the sixth successive season, and the American left-handed pitcher David Holmberg, who arrived yesterday.
While Yoenis Céspedes, a veteran outfielder with experience in the Major Leagues, who arrived on Sunday, will undoubtedly awaken the greatest attraction in the training sessions that start this Thursday.
In addition, he announced that the veteran pitchers Carlos – Tsunami- Martínez, Marcos Diplán, Ramón Rossó and Wendolyn Bautista will be reporting from this Thursday, on the first day of practice.
