Afghanistan: four attacks, including three claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State, kill at least 16

Three of these attacks were claimed by the Islamic State terrorist group. At least sixteen people were killed in four bomb attacks in Afghanistan, according to a new report from the authorities, Thursday, May 26. Three of these attacks on Wednesday took place against minibuses in Mazar-i-Sharif (Afghanistan), in the north of the country. The fourth attack targeted a mosque in the capital, Kabul.

In Mazar-i-Sharif, at least ten people died and about fifteen others were injured, according to the police and the health services. In Kabul, the attack targeting a mosque killed six people and injured 18 others, according to a latest report from the capital’s police.

The Islamic State jihadist group claimed responsibility for the Mazar-i-Sharif attacks on Wednesday evening. “Caliphate soldiers detonated two bombs placed on two buses (…) and a third bomb on a third bus”, ISIS said via its Telegram channels. The explosion in Kabul has not been claimed at this stage.
