Acosta’s Remaining Two Bullets

Acosta still has two bullets

MotoGP returns to action this week, with two consecutive races that present many incentives not to lose gravel. First, the motorcycle world championship will stop in Assen, and then in Sachsenring.

There are two incentives that have to do with the past, present, and future of the queen class. Marc Márquez has a couple of chances to break his victory drought, which dates back to October 24, 2021, when he won in Misano. This comes after knowing that in 2025 he will be the partner of Pecco Bagnaia in factory equipment Ducati.

A record from ’93’ is also an interesting point to highlight. Pedro Acosta, the two-time champion, still has two bullets to surpass the record of… Marc Márquez. The competitor born in Cervera won in Austin in 2013 when he was 20 years and 63 days old, and he did it at the handlebars of the Sling. So, the Shark from Mazarrón must hurry up if he wants to snatch that record from the ’93. The GasGas Tech3 rider, who is fifth in the MotoGP general classification with 101 points, must win before the contest reaches the July break.

It’s very good to rest, but… The best rookie 2024, who turned 20 on May 25, aspires to become the youngest winner of a top-flight race, but it is not something that particularly obsesses him. “Breaks are good to unwind and train, but I miss racing a lot. So I’m looking forward to Assen. It’s a track that I really like. And in which there is a spectacular atmosphere. Little by little I am adapting more to the motorcycle. This is also noticeable in the regularity, especially on Saturdays,” confesses the Murcian.
