In a historic day for dominican tourismor, for his leading role in one of the most important tourist fairs in the world, the President of the Republic, Louis Abinader, showed the best face of the Dominican Republic managing to capture the attention of all the participants in the inauguration of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2022.
The president, during a dinner organized by the Dominican Popular Bank, stated that “We Dominicans have come to conquer the Spanish.”
In this activity, in which businessmen and representatives of the Dominican and European tourism sector participated, the president stated that “We have come to Spain, to the world’s largest tourism fair to conquer them. And I don’t find better allies to achieve it than all of you and Banco Popular”.
The president stressed that the entrepreneurs and the banking sector In difficult times, they have demonstrated their commitment to excellence and rigor and, even in difficult times, they have achieved healthy financial indicators and a sustained growth rate, to the benefit of their clients, employees and shareholders, even considering the challenging macroeconomic scenario, as a consequence of the exceptional health situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
They sign agreements for US$1,400 millionThe Dominican Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, signed agreements, separately, with the Polish tour operator Rainbow Tours and the Spanish airlines, Iberia, and German, Euro Wings, for the development and sustained growth of tourism.
President Abinader led, together with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, the signing of the agreement as part of the activities scheduled within the framework of Fitur 2022.
The firstagreement signed with the airline Iberia seeks to carry out actions to promote the Dominican Republic in Spain.
During the act, the Minister of Tourism expressed that it is a clear sign that the commission and President Abinader are coming to this fair to sign agreements, which have an estimated value of US$1.4 billion.
The second agreement was signed with the German airline, Euro Wings. company that will guarantee two weekly flights to Puerto Plata, starting on January 29 and throughout 2022. Currently, it only makes daily flights to Punta Cana.
Minister Collado said that this signature is very important, because the government has a special interest in strengthening the tourist destination of Puerto Plata.
An alliance was also made with Rainbow Tours, which ensures three weekly flights from the three main cities in Poland to Puerto Plata.
Support of King Felipe VI
During the inauguration of Fitur, President Abinader expressed that he is very happy, since the Dominican Republic has stood out in this edition of FITUR, which is the relaunch of world tourism after the pandemic and where the country has had a special participation in be dedicated to the nation.
Abinader expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King of Spain, Felipe VI, for the treatment given and for the time spent at the Dominican stand, which he defines as “a great accolade to this great country of Spain which, as you know, has a very, very special relationship with us”.
President Abinader spoke with journalists prior to the ribbon cutting that formally inaugurated the activities of FITUR 2022, after the visit of the king and queen to the Dominican stand and a tour of the fair.
“Everything we do here is to improve our economy and consequently the quality of life of Dominicans,” he said.
He thanked the recognition he received from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as the country that best managed tourism with the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as another from the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.
Hotel chains and commercial banks participate in Fitur 2022, with the active participation of the official delegation headed by President Luis Abinader.
Pepe Hidalgo “Recovery is a fact”.
The Spanish businessman, owner of the Globalia Group and Air Europa, Juan José -Pepe- Hidalgo, affirmed that the recovery of Dominican tourism is a fact. “We are already launched and it has been conceived to celebrate FITUR, which is the initial vehicle, promoter of returning to what we were. And come on, this year we will have acceptable figures, not the ones we had before, but acceptable figures”, explained the Spanish businessman to Listín Diario during the inauguration of Fitur.
