Covid-19: Guadeloupe reconfigured for three weeks starting Wednesday night

Guadalupe will be confined again for a period of at least three weeks starting Wednesday at 8 pm in the face of the meteoric rise in Covid-19 cases, Prefect Alexandre Rochatte announced Monday night.

The Caribbean island follows the neighboring territory of Martinique, confined since Friday also for three weeks. “At night, the curfew is strict and advanced from 8 pm to 5 am, and during the day there are traffic restrictions in a sphere of 10 kilometers around his house,” said the prefect, referring to ” essential measures “in the face of the increase in cases.

According to figures from the Ministry of Health, only 15.9% of the local population received two injections (or only one when it is enough to complete the vaccination schedule), compared to 52.6% in metropolitan France. Prime Minister Jean Castex considered the situation in Guadeloupe, Martinique and La Réunion “dramatic”.
