A 4.1 earthquake shakes an Amazon area in northern Ecuador without victims or damage

An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 was registered this Sunday in a sector of the Amazonian province of Sucumbíos, in northeastern Ecuador, with no reports of victims or property damage to date.

The Geophysical Institute (IG) of the National Polytechnic School reported that the tremor occurred at 1:39 p.m. local time (18.39 GMT) about 27 kilometers west of the city of Shushufindi and also close to the Reventador volcano, currently in the process of erupting.

The epicenter of the telluric movement was located at 0.05 degrees north latitude and 77.30 degrees west longitude, at a depth of about 28 kilometers.

for now There are no reports indicating that the earthquake was felt in nearby towns.
