For the first time, two Saudi astronauts will travel to the International Space Station (ISS) on a private mission. Among them is female astronaut named Raynah Barnavi.
She is going to make a unique achievement as the first woman of Saudi Arabia. Saudi male astronaut Ali Al-Qarni will go into space with him. The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported this information on Sunday.
Saudi astronauts will visit the orbiting laboratory for the first time. Ryanah Barnavi is a breast cancer researcher. Ali Al-Qarni is a fighter pilot by profession. The mission started with four astronauts at 5:37 pm on Sunday from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. The other two members of this mission named Axiom Mission 2 (AX-2) are Peggy Whitson and John Shoffner. They will stay in the International Space Station for about 10 days. AFP.
