According to a recent research van Bakkt – a marketplace for digital assets – would consider 50 percent of freelancers taking a portion of their salary in Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. Why freelancers?
It seems that freelancers are more open to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. A possible explanation for this is that freelancers themselves are people who are more used to experiencing risk and stress. After all, as freelancers you have to arrange it all yourself and it is possible that you will lose your job overnight. It is a slightly more volatile existence than the life of someone with a steady job.
That volatility fits with the volatility of Bitcoin and the crypto sector in general. In addition, freelancers are probably a bit more researching by nature and are more open to new things like Bitcoin. In any case, based on this research by Bakkt, it is difficult to conclude that Bitcoin is “dead”, which you see a lot in the media these days.
“Crypto is the evolution of money”
Bakkt’s research shows that many freelancers see crypto as a way to increase the potential value of their paychecks. After all, the Bitcoin you get today can quickly increase in value in a short time. However, the opposite is also true. For that reason, having your salary paid in Bitcoin or other crypto is a risk. At the moment it doesn’t seem like a very smart move to have your full salary paid in Bitcoin if you have to live on that.
At least if you can’t handle a 70 to 80 percent crash. If you have the savings to accommodate that, then you might want to consider it. If Bitcoin is indeed the “evolution of our money”, as the freelancers from Bakkt’s research believe, then having your salary paid into it can be a very lucrative move. However, certainty does not exist in this world.
