Dubai: Two Indians killed in suspected drone strikes by Houthi rebels on Monday near Abu Dhabi airport have been identified. The attacks were followed by several explosions in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Giving information about this on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy said that among the 6 people injured in the attacks, there are 2 Indians. Both were discharged from the hospital on Monday night after treatment. Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed a drone strike in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Pakistani citizen also died

Two Indians and a Pakistani national were killed in the attack on Monday. All three were employees of ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company). The explosions were caused by ‘small flying objects’, possibly drones, and fell on 3 petroleum tankers in Abu Dhabi. The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said on Tuesday that the two Indian nationals who were killed have been identified. He tweeted, ‘Indian Embassy officials in Abu Dhabi are in touch with their families. The missions are working closely with the UAE authorities, including ADNOC, to retrieve their bodies soon.

‘2 Indian nationals out of 6 injured’
However, the embassy did not reveal the identity of the Indians killed in the attack. He tweeted, ‘Out of 6 injured, 2 are Indian nationals. He was discharged last night after treatment. We thank the UAE Government, their Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ADNOC Group for their support. India’s Ambassador to the UAE Sanjay Sudhir told The National newspaper on Monday that the Indian government would provide all possible assistance to the families of the two deceased Indian nationals.

Many people condemned the drone attack
State-owned ADNOC tweeted on Monday: “At around 10am this morning an incident occurred at the Musafah Fuel Depot in Abu Dhabi, which led to a fire. Deeply saddened to inform ADNOC that 3 of its personnel have been killed. At this time the entire ADNOC family extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of our colleagues who died this morning.’ Meanwhile, a day after the drone attack, many condemned it and showed solidarity.

Saudi Crown Prince expressed condolences
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman holds talks with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Saudi Crown Prince expressed his deepest condolences to the dead and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned the attack. “The UAE reserves the right to retaliate against these attacks,” the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement.
