  • Bangladesh lost by 17 runs in the first match
  • Zimbabwe win 1-0 in the series

ZIM vs. BAN, 1st T20I: The start of Zimbabwe’s tour of Bangladesh was disappointing. In the opening match between the two teams in Harare on Saturday, hosts Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh by 17 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Zimbabwe successfully defended the score of 205 in this match and restricted Bangladesh to 188.

Liton Das’ departure was heavy

Chasing Zimbabwe’s goal of 206 runs, the Bangladesh team did not start well and in the second, their starter Munim Shahryar returned to the pavilion after scoring four runs. Liton Das (32) and Anamul Haque (26) together managed the innings and made quick runs and shared a 33-ball 58 for the second wicket. Liton Das looked in good form and scored 32 runs on 19 balls, but was unluckily eliminated in the seventh over. Following this, Anamul Haque and then Afif Hussain (10) also soon returned to the arena.

Nurul Hasan could not win

The Bangladeshi team was at one point in trouble after losing four wickets in 106. But after this, Najmul Hossain Shanto (37) and captain Nurul Hasan (42*) put together a solid pairing and added 40 runs on 21 balls. Najmul came out in the 16th. After this, the captain tried to score fast but was unable to win the team and the Bangladeshi team could only score 188 runs from 20 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Fifty of Sikandar and Wesley

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. But it didn’t get off to a good start either. Regis Chakabwa was dismissed in the third over after scoring eight runs. After this, captain Craig Irvine (21) scored quickly but was unable to play a big inning. However, at the other end, Wesley Madhevere (67) played a quick hit before retiring with heart and scored 67 runs on 46 balls. After him, Sean Williams made 33 in 19 balls and then Sikandar Raza played an unbeaten inning of 65 runs in 26 balls to take the team’s score to 205 and set a big goal against Bangladesh.
