Zidane: “Train Mbappé? It could happen one day”

For two years now, Zinedine Zidane has been living his inactivity on the bench in the calmest way possible, enjoying time with his family and focusing on new projects. At the inauguration of a new “Five Football” sports complex for the most disadvantaged children in Aix-en-Provence, in collaboration with Electronic Arts, the Marseillais spoke to the daily L’Equipe in an interview in which he was asked by the man of the moment, Kylian Mbappé, acknowledging that “I could train him one day”.

“When you are a coach and there is a player like him, of course you want to train him. Lots of things can happen. It could happen some day. He is a player who wears the French team shirt well. In any case, I admire what he does. He is beautiful the way he plays football and he is strong ”, replied Zidane, who last Sunday was full of praise for Mbappé, assuring that he “expects him to win many Ballon d’Ors”.

Zizou could have met Kylian Mbappé years ago at Real Madrid and also with the French team. The goal of the legend of the French team was to assume the reins of the bench once the World Cup in Qatar was over. At the last minute and against all odds, Didier Deschamps renewed until 2026 and cut short his dream. He will not be able to direct him at PSG either, a club he has rejected on several occasions, since Luis Enrique will be made official next week as his new coach.
