Nintendo has confirmed to IGN that the upcoming upgraded version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t include the DLC Expansion Pass. This new version, dubbed the “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition,” will only contain the base game. The decision is unusual, as many re-releases bundle the main game with DLC.
New Features and Upgrades
The Switch 2 Edition will introduce new features like Achievements and “Zelda Notes,” accessible through the Nintendo Switch Online app. The game will also receive graphical upgrades and performance improvements for smoother gameplay.
Pricing and Availability
Existing owners of the game on the original Switch will need to pay $10 to upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition. New players will have to buy the game for $70. If they want the DLC Expansion Pass, they’ll need to pay an additional $19.99, bringing the total cost to $90.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, will be available on June 5 as launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2.
