Yuki Bhambri Gets Direct Entry to Tata Open Maharashtra Tennis Tournament

Pune. Yuki Bhambri from India has managed to secure a direct entry into the main draw of the Tata Open Maharashtra men’s singles tennis tournament. The fourth Tata Open Maharashtra tennis tournament will kick off in Pune from January 31 with some of the best players competing for the title. Yuki, 29, is playing at the Australian Open after recovering from injury and his ‘protected qualification’ has earned him a spot at the prestigious event.

This tournament returns after a break due to Kovid-19. World number 18 Aslan Karatsev and defending champion Jiri Vesely, in addition to seven other top 100 players, will battle for the title in the only ATP tournament in South Asia. This tournament will be played at the Balewadi Stadium. With the tournament’s cutoff ranking of 149, the ATP 250 tournament will see household names such as John Millman of Australia, Jao Sousa of Portugal and youth sensation Lorenzo Musetti of Italy play in this ATP 250 tournament.

Karatsev had a great 2021 when he made his Grand Slam debut in Australia to become the first player to reach the semi-finals. He also won two singles titles, defeating the legendary Novaka Djokovic and won the silver medal in mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics.

Mussetti, 19, became the youngest player to break into the top 100 last year. The youngster has beaten the top 10 players such as Stan Wawrinka, Grigor Dimitrov and Kei Nishikori. The qualifying matches will take place on January 30 and 31.
