Kannada superstar Yash has begun shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s film ‘Ramayana’, where he’ll play the role of Ravana and also serve as a co-producer. Ranbir Kapoor will star as Ram, while Sai Pallavi will play the role of Mata. Although Ranbir and Sai Pallavi have already completed their parts in Mumbai, Yash has just started filming his scenes. In a recent interview, the KGF star openly discussed his portrayal of Ravana, expressing his excitement about the role.
Yash likes Ravana’s character, finding it very interesting and unique. He mentioned in a conversation with India Today that if he were offered any other character in the Ramayana, he would probably decline. The complexity of Ravana’s character, with its various shades, is what drew Yash to the role. He believes that Ravana can be played in many different ways, making it a fascinating challenge for an actor.
Currently, the primary focus of the shooting is on the war sequences, which will be filmed at Aksa Beach in Mumbai. According to reports, extensive preparations are being made to depict the epic battle of the Ramayana on screen. The film will feature a combination of footage and real locations on a green screen, with heavy use of VFX to bring the story to life. Notably, Ranbir Kapoor’s presence is not required for these scenes, as Ram and Ravana do not interact directly. The rest of the necessary cast members have joined Yash for the filming.
The film ‘Ramayana’ boasts an impressive cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Lara Dutta, Sunny Deol, and Indira Krishna. The movie will be released in two parts, with the first installment scheduled for Diwali on November 6, 2026, and the second part expected to follow in 2027. Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor will soon be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’, alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Yash’s upcoming film, ‘Toxic’, is also highly anticipated.
