Actress Ximena Herrera has been eliminated as the fourth participant from ‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’. A member of the Tiburones team, Herrera exited the competition after losing the definitive challenge on Monday.
The 46-year-old Bolivian actress had faced multiple nominations from her team in prior weeks. Most recently, all members except Helen Ochoa voted for her during last Thursday’s nomination round.
The elimination challenge required contestants to arrange blocks in a line on a long platform. A sphere would then fall through zig-zag planks, akin to a pinball machine, to strike and knock down the blocks in a domino effect. Jason Romo of the Águilas team ultimately completed the challenge, securing his spot and eliminating Herrera.
Following the result, her fellow contestants cheered her name, offering hugs and applause as a gesture of respect and affection for her departure. Host Héctor Suárez Gomís expressed, “It was a pleasure to see you grow, take the transformation you had here into your life.”
Herrera shared her own sentiments, stating, “I take wonderful people with me, who will be my future friends over the years, I’m sure of it, and four siblings, because from this they became my family,” referring to her Tiburones teammates.
She added, “I am proud of myself, because I learned to live with people of different personalities. I learned that everything I think I can’t do is an infinity of things I can. I learned to listen and I learned to listen to myself.”
Born in La Paz, Carla Ximena Herrera has an extensive acting career, appearing in telenovelas and series such as ‘La Madrastra,’ ‘El Señor de los Cielos,’ ‘Mujeres de Negro,’ ‘Buscando a Frida,’ and ‘Vuelve a mí.’ Her debut on a reality show marks a new direction in her entertainment career.
The current teams in ‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’ include Tiburones (José María, Helen, Martín, Rodrigo), Panteras (Christian, Gary, Estefanía, Nievelis, Roberto), and Águilas (Mauricio, Julieta, Jason, Moi, Paulina). Previous eliminations include Zoraida Gómez, Elizabeth Gutiérrez, and Fernanda Flores.
The competition features a weekly schedule: Elimination on Mondays, Survival on Tuesdays, Punishment on Wednesdays, Nomination on Thursdays, and Rematch on Fridays, with Power challenges on Sundays. Victories in these challenges grant advantages such as captaincies and immunities.
Contestants determine eliminations through their votes. The final three participants will face a ultimate challenge to determine the champion. The grand prize for the winner is $200,000 USD.
‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’ airs Monday through Friday and on Sundays at 7pm/6c on Telemundo. Episodes are also available for simultaneous streaming on the official app and Peacock.
