Xiaomi’s first electric car seemed, until recently, a real utopia. But at an event held during the first half of the year, it was promised that this would be one of the company’s next bets, with the initiative led by CEO Lei Jun.
Xiaomi Car will only be mass produced from 2024.
On Monday, the executive led a conference in China focused on the company’s first electric car. It was clarified that only in 2024 will the Xiaomi Car be mass-produced.
This should happen during the first half of that year, and the vehicle is expected to hit the market between late 2024 and early 2025. Temporary windows that, at this distance, can still change.
The first factory will be in Yizhuang, outside of Beijing. As indicated, more than 20 thousand CVs were received and a research and development team of 453 people will be operational.
In a first phase, Xiaomi invests 10 billion dollars in the whole process. And Lei Jun even said that Xiaomi Motors will be his last great adventure in life, and he will give everything for the company.

Now it remains to be seen when Xiaomi plans to officially unveil the design of its first electric vehicle. Judging from the cloth-covered vehicle behind Lei Jun in the images, it will be a sedan. But at this stage of the championship it can be a merely illustrative image.
