Xiaomi has just officially launched Redmi 10, its next entry-level smartphone. The manufacturer had mistakenly revealed too much information about him a few days ago. Offered starting at $179, the device includes a 90 Hz FHD+6.5″ screen, a 50 MP photo sensor and an imposing 5000 mAh battery.

There were a lot of leaks about the Redmi 10, so much so that we knew almost everything about its datasheet or its design. The coup de grace was given by the manufacturer himself, Xiaomi having mistakenly published the device’s presentation paper in an official blog. With the surprise definitely spoiled, the Chinese company decided to end the suspense and has just officially launched Redmi 10.

And precisely what does the successor to Redmi 9 have in store for us? Firstly, the device’s design is much more refined and “premium” than its predecessor, with a camera module similar to the Mi 10 Ultra. The smartphone is also thinner and lighter than the Redmi 9, with 181 grams in scale only and one thickness of 8.92 mm.

The real new thing, however, is at the screen level, as the Redmi 10 incorporates a 6.5 ″ FHD panel with a maximum update rate of 90 Hz. In addition, the device benefits from a technology generally reserved for the manufacturer’s flagships. In fact, the entry level has the AdaptiveSync, a feature that adapts the screen refresh rate according to usage:

  • 45 Hz for reading
  • 60Hz to watch hot content on YouTube or Netflix
  • 90 Hz for gaming and scrolling

A quad photosensor and a 5000 mAh battery for the Redmi 10

In addition, the slab is covered by protective glass Corning Gorilla Class 3. Under the hood there is a processor Mediatek Helio G88 along with 4 or 6 GB of RAM depending on the version, and 64 or 128 GB internal memory. The set of photos is quite attractive for an entry level with a quad photo sensor composed of a main objective of 50 MP f / 1.8, an ultra wide angle of 8 MP f / 2.2 and FOV 120°, a macro lens of 2 MP f / 2.4 and a lens dedicated to the depth of field of 2 MP f / 2.4.

Selfie enthusiasts will benefit from a sensor housed in the center of the screen. 8 MP f / 2.0. Regarding power, the Redmi 10 has an impressive battery of 5000 mAh, compatible with a 18W fast charge and a 9W reverse load. This Xiaomi, the accumulator will offer 30 hours of calls, 14 hours of video playback or 158 hours of listening to music without going through the recharge box.

Note then that Redmi 10 has a fingerprint reader on the side of the device, while a facial recognition function is part of it. One MicroSD port, Dual SIM and one 3.5mm jack port also answer the call. In terms of connectivity, the Redmi 10 supports Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz. It’s no surprise that everything will feature MIUI 12.5 technology, the home overlay based on Android 11.

The device will be offered in three different colors, namely: gray (Carbon Gray), white (Pebble White) and blue (Sea Blue). Three versions will be available: 4GB / 64GB at $179, 4GB / 128GB at $199 and 6GB / 128GB at $219. For now, Xiaomi has not yet communicated launch date or prices for the French market.
