The Manos Arrugadas Foundation announced the suspension of several programs in favor of the elderly due to lack of budget, since its allocation of resources was reduced by 57 percent.
The president of the Manos Arrugadas Foundation, Yanny Paulino, stated that some 400 older adults would be left without aid due to the suspension of various initiatives.
I affirm that the physical, social, productive and human well-being Reintegration Plan is closed that develops in the institution and that benefits more than 400 seniors of country by reduction of government grant funds.
He expressed that suspends activities as of this November 30due to a readjustment of the budget that was assigned through Law No. 345-21 of the general State budget for 2022, based on which a program to improve the quality of life of hundreds of older adults was developed.
“The suspension of the execution of the program sends doctors, nurses, dentists, lawyers, facilitators, service personnel and hundreds of older adults to the streets at Christmas without the help offered by the institution through the different programs in which they participate: Health and Life, Education, Productivity, Legal, Recreation and social assistance, designed and executed according to the approved budget”, he indicated.
He reported thatthe foundation achieved a 97 performance review score, funds are managed neatly, transparently, and effectivelyTherefore, a reduction in the budget is not justified, and a smaller subsidy does not cover the commitments scheduled to develop the program that was planned for this year.
“We are very sorry to have to suspend such a beautiful project, but in honor of the responsibility, frontality and decency that must always prevail, we prefer to respond to the commitments already made and act in accordance with the principles that the institution upholds”, said Gianni Paulino.
Paulino explained to dozens of older adults that with the funds from the Christmas Charity Raffle carried out by the institution, food boxes with Christmas products will be delivered to hundreds of older adults without resources, who wishes them happy holidays and may the star of hope always shine in their lives.
