The eight participants of the MLB Home Run Derby prior to the All-Star Game of the 2023 Major League season are already defined and it is important to know who are the favorites for the home run tournament.
According to sportsbook FanDuel, The favorite player to win the Home Run Derby is Pete Alonsoof the New York Mets, with a odds of +320. Currently the first baseman hit 25 home runs in the 2023 Major League Baseball season.
The Mets infielder is the only 2023 entrant to have already won the batting contest having achieved it in 2019 and 2021. In addition, he is the all-time leader in home runs achieved in the Derby with a total of 174; second place belongs to Albert Pujols with 106.
The first confrontation of ‘Polar Bear’ will be against Julio Rodriguez, of the Mariners. The one from the Seattle organization has an odds of +500. Alonso’s closest competitor is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+350)who will face Mookie Betts (+1500) in the first round.
