The beta versions of WhatsApp often contain functions that are only available to all messenger users later. Some of these are test runs that never reach end users. However, they often also serve as preparation for experimental features that will actually be available to all users later.
How to create an avatar in Whatsapp
Video avatar calling almost finished
In the WhatsApp beta for Android with version number 2.22.15.5 there were first indications of a feature called Video Avatar Calling. This allows you to start video calls in which the other person only sees the specially created avatar. This can create funny moments with friends, but can also increase privacy if you don’t know the other person that well yet.
Avatar instead of face
Video Avatar Calling is already included in the latest WhatsApp beta with version number 2.23.19.14. Selected users can already try out the function and make video calls with their WhatsApp avatar instead of their face.
Real-time facial expressions
According to WhatsApp, in the future you will be able to choose whether you want to appear as an avatar before every video call. Then the avatar created in advance takes over the facial expressions, laughs or looks serious – just like the user himself changes his face. According to the operator, the calls continue to be encrypted end-to-end. You can switch to a video of your own face at any time.

How to find out if Video Avatar Calling is already activated
After starting a video call, there will be an avatar button on the call screen. Here you must agree to the terms of use once. However, it could probably take a few days or even weeks before the feature is available to all WhatsApp users. However, operators have put a lot of effort into integrating avatar video calls. It can therefore be assumed that the function will soon be available to all users.
