Australia has banned its military from drinking alcohol during combat operations and exercises following an inquiry into war crimes in Afghanistan.

According to foreign media, a long-standing investigation into alleged war crimes by Australian special forces in Afghanistan was published in 2020, revealing that an Australian special forces unit in Afghanistan had a secret liquor store that contained multiple Alcohol was consumed there and the forces personnel used to organize parties there.

After this investigation came to light, the Australian Defense Chief has completely banned the use of alcohol in the military during combat operations and exercises.

According to the new rules, military personnel will have to take permission from the military authorities to consume alcohol even during non-combat operations and also on national festivals.

In this regard, instructions have been issued to the operational commanders that they will take the breath test of the personnel from time to time, while the personnel who do not undergo the breath test will be removed from work immediately and their weapons and ammunition and Vehicle use will be restricted.

According to the new rules, an officer whose blood alcohol level does not reach zero during testing will be subject to disciplinary action and will be removed from that military operation, exercise or activity.

It should be noted that the Australian Special Forces unit is accused of killing 39 people while deployed in Afghanistan.
