Vivo’s latest foldable smartphone, the X Fold5, has officially landed in China, touting a slimmer design, enhanced performance, and improved durability compared to its predecessor, the X Fold3 Pro. The device is expected to make its way to international markets soon.
The X Fold5 boasts a 6.53-inch cover screen and an 8.03-inch foldable OLED display with a 2,480 x 2,200 pixel resolution and a 10.1:9 aspect ratio. The screen features Zeiss Master Color technology, developed in collaboration with Zeiss, ensuring natural and accurate color representation. The foldable display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Armor glass, providing added strength.
The X Fold5 is available in Titanium, White, and Green Pine variants. The Titanium version measures 9.2mm when folded and 4.3mm when open, weighing 217g. The White and Green Pine versions are slightly thicker, measuring 9.7mm and 4.55mm, respectively, and weigh 226g. The device features a hinge made from high-strength steel and carbon fiber, ensuring durability and lightness.
Enhanced Durability and Battery Life
The X Fold5 is the first foldable smartphone to achieve IPX9+ certification, making it resistant to high-pressure water jets at temperatures above 80°C. It also features IPX8 certification, allowing it to withstand being submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes, and IP5X certification, protecting it from dust and extreme cold temperatures.
The device is powered by a large 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, divided into two cells: 3,275mAh and 2,725mAh. It supports 80W fast charging and 40W wireless charging.

The X Fold5 features a triple-camera setup:
- 50MP primary sensor (Sony IMX921, 1/1.56-inch, f/1.57, OIS, Zeiss T* coating)
- 50MP Zeiss Super Telephoto lens (Sony IMX882, 1/1.95-inch, f/2.55, 3x optical zoom, OIS)
- 50MP ultrawide lens (1/2.75-inch, f/2.05, 15mm equivalent focal length, Zeiss T* coating)
The X Fold5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB-C with DisplayPort.

The X Fold5 will be available in China on July 2, 2025, with the following prices:
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: 7,000 CNY
- 12GB RAM + 512GB storage: 8,000 CNY
- 16GB RAM + 512GB storage: 8,500 CNY
- 16GB RAM + 1TB storage: 9,500 CNY
The X Fold5 is poised to compete with other premium foldable smartphones, such as the OPPO Find N5.
