Vivek Oberoi is set to portray Vibhishan, the brother of Ravana, in director Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated film “Ramayana.” The actor has made a significant philanthropic commitment regarding his role.
Oberoi will donate his entire fee for playing Vibhishan to children undergoing cancer treatment. He conveyed this decision directly to producer Namit Malhotra.
“I told producer Namit Malhotra that I don’t want a single penny for the role of Vibhishan,” Oberoi stated in an interview. “I will donate the entire fee to children suffering from cancer.”
He expressed confidence in the project’s ambition, adding, “I like their work, and this film will make Indian cinema shine in the world.”
The actor also shared production updates for the epic. Filming for the first part of “Ramayana” concluded in June 2025. Post-production is now in progress, with an extensive 300 days allocated for visual effects work.
Oberoi believes “Ramayana” will be a formidable response to major Hollywood films. He highlighted that the visual effects company working on the project has a track record of winning multiple Oscar awards.
Ranbir Kapoor leads the cast as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi starring as Mata Sita. South Indian actor Yash will play Ravana.
The extensive cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari. Rakul Preet Singh is cast as Surpanakha.
