Vidarbha Advances to Vijay Hazare Trophy Finals Against Karnataka

The Vidarbha cricket team, led by captain Karun Nair, is on a remarkable run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Vidarbha secured a place in the final after defeating Maharashtra in the second semi-final match held in Vadodara. Vidarbha batted first, scoring 380 runs at the cost of three wickets in 50 overs. In response, Maharashtra scored 311 runs in 50 overs, falling short by 69 runs. The final match is scheduled for January 17, where Vidarbha will face off against Karnataka.

Key Bowlers Shine for Vidarbha

Maharashtra’s pursuit of the target was hindered by the loss of two crucial wickets. Vidarbha’s bowlers, Darshan Nalkande and Nachiket, each took three wickets, while Parth claimed one wicket. Maharashtra’s Arshin Kulkarni scored 90 runs, but the team struggled to gain momentum. Ankit Bawne and Nikhil Naik contributed 50 and 49 runs, respectively, but it was not enough to secure a win.

Impressive Batting Display by Vidarbha

The Vidarbha team had a remarkable batting performance, with openers Yash Rathore and Dhruv Shorey scoring centuries. The duo formed a 224-run partnership for the first wicket, setting the tone for the match. Yash Rathore scored 116 runs, while Dhruv Shorey contributed 114 runs. Captain Karun Nair also played a crucial inning, scoring 88 runs in 44 balls. Vidarbha will face Karnataka in the final, a team that has also shown impressive performance in the tournament.
