A massive fortune is up for grabs, turning heads across the globe. The Powerball lottery jackpot has swelled to an astounding $850 million, or roughly 30,600 million Thai Baht. This prize pool now stands as the sixth largest in the game’s long history. Imagine what that kind of money could do.
Excitement is building for the next draw, set for Wednesday night, August 27, 2025, in the United States. Matt Strawn, the Powerball Product Group Chairman, confirmed the huge jackpot. Everyone is watching to see if someone will finally hit the big one.
Should a lucky player pick all the right numbers, they’ll face a choice. They can opt for an annuity, paid out over 30 years with a 5% increase each year. Or, they might prefer a single, immediate payment. That lump sum would be $383.7 million, about 13,800 million Thai Baht, before taxes are taken out.
The jackpot has been growing steadily since May 31, 2025. That was when a player in California claimed a cool $204.5 million, which is around 7,350 million Thai Baht. This summer has seen plenty of smaller wins, too. Fifty-six tickets have won a million dollars or more, and over 558 tickets have claimed prizes of $50,000 or greater.
The most recent draw, held on Monday, didn’t produce a jackpot winner. But two tickets, one sold in Georgia and another in Texas, each won a hefty $1 million, about 36 million Thai Baht. The winning numbers for that draw were 16, 19, 34, 37, 64, with the Powerball number 22 and a Power Play multiplier of 3.
Wednesday’s drawing will be the 38th since the last jackpot was claimed. It will be broadcast live from the Florida Lottery studio at 10:59 PM local time. Powerball tickets cost just $2 each. The game is played across 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s more than just a game; over half of the revenue generated supports various state programs. Since its beginning in 1992, Powerball has raised more than $36 billion for public projects.
While the current $850 million is truly massive, it’s not the biggest ever. The record Powerball jackpot was an incredible $2.004 billion, claimed by a California player in November 2022, worth roughly 73,350 million Thai Baht. Other historic wins include $1.765 billion in 2023, $1.586 billion in 2016, and $1.326 billion won in Oregon in April 2024. As the next draw approaches, millions will dream of joining that exclusive list.
