A brazen kidnapping took place in Carrasco, targeting an 86-year-old woman and her 28-year-old driver. The incident happened on Monday at around 6:30 pm.
The suspect, 22, was caught the next day. Police searched his home and found three cell phones. He has a record of theft and robbery.
The woman and her driver were parked on avenida Rivera and Alfonso Espínola when the attacker jumped into their Audi Q5. He threatened them with a gun and stole the woman’s jewelry, money, and other belongings.
As stated in the police report, the attacker hit the driver and kept them hostage for nearly an hour. He then ordered them to drive to the Sarandí neighborhood in Nuevo París.
The kidnapper got out at the intersection of streets 5 and 2 and disappeared. The victims reported the crime, citing $15,000 stolen, along with jewelry and a purse containing the woman’s belongings. Fortunately, she was unharmed. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday.
