UNSC News: India on Wednesday voted for the first time against Russia during a ‘procedural vote’ on Ukraine at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The 15-member UN Security Council invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to address the meeting via video-teleconference during this time. The Russian army invaded Ukraine in February. Since then, India has voted against Russia for the first time on Ukraine. So far, New Delhi has been avoiding Ukraine’s case in the UN Security Council, which has left the West, including the US, unhappy.

After the attack on Ukraine, Western countries have imposed tough economic and other sanctions on Russia. India has not condemned Russia’s attack against Ukraine. New Delhi has repeatedly appealed to Russia and Ukraine to return to the path of diplomacy and dialogue and expressed cooperation in all diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between the two countries.

India is a non-permanent member of the UNSC for two years. His term will end in December. The Security Council held a meeting on Wednesday to review the six-month-long war on the 31st anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. As the meeting began, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily A. Nebenzia, requested a procedural vote regarding Zelensky’s participation in the meeting via video tele-conference. After this 13 members voted in favor of it, while Russia voted against this invitation and China did not vote.

Russia launched a major missile attack on Ukraine, killing 22

On the other hand, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine. America had already given information about this that Russia is going to intensify the attack again. Meanwhile, Russia has launched a major missile attack on eastern Ukraine. The missile attack targeted trains and buildings in eastern Ukraine. At least 22 people are reported to have died in this missile attack. There 50 people were injured. This information was given by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to the United Nations Security Council on 24 August. Zelensky reported that “Russia launched a missile attack on a railway station in the (central) Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack killed 22 people and injured about 50.”
