Abu Dhabi: Violation of the traffic law was expensive for a Gulf citizen in the United Arab Emirates, the police imposed a fine of thousands of dirhams.

According to the statement released by Ajman Police, the Traffic and Patrolling Department has arrested a twenty-six-year-old Khilji citizen from Al-Tala area, who was driving in the wrong direction on the busy highway.

A video shared on social media by the Ajman Police shows the citizen driving against traffic on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The footage also shows how the forces pulled him over. The vehicle was traced and impounded by tracing the transport.

Ajman Police Traffic and Patrolling Department Director Lt. Col. Saif Abdullah Al Falasi said that the driver was arrested in Al-Tala area in less than two hours.

He said that the driver was fined 2,000 dirhams for reckless driving, endangering the lives of others, 600 dirhams for driving in the opposite direction, and 200 dirhams for not obeying traffic signals. His driving license has been confiscated for 6 months for serious violation of traffic law.

Traffic officials said that after the arrest, it was learned that the driver had committed several other violations, for which he was fined a total of 17,650 dirhams, while he was also given 46 black points, for which he was suspended for 127 days. The vehicle will also remain in police custody.

Authorities have urged drivers not to drive recklessly, which is against UAE laws and values ​​and poses a danger to residents.
