Trump’s Gaza Peace Ultimatum to Hamas: Accept by Sunday

Trump sets deadline: Hamas must accept Gaza peace plan by Sunday.

Former President Donald Trump has issued a stern ultimatum to Hamas. He set a hard deadline for the group to accept a 20-point peace plan for Gaza. The clock is ticking, with Sunday marking the final day for Hamas to agree to the proposal. This plan, according to Trump, represents the last opportunity. It aims to prevent a wider, more devastating conflict in the region.

On October 3, 2025, Mr. Trump, acting as U.S. President, publicly declared this deadline. Hamas must respond by 6:00 PM US time on Sunday, October 5. This translates to 5:00 AM Monday, October 6, for those in Southeast Asia. He emphasized that this is the absolute final chance for a truce. Failure to accept will lead to “severe measures” against Hamas, he warned.

Trump shared his message on Truth Social, his own social media platform. He called Hamas a “grave and brutal threat.” He also made it clear that if the agreement is not reached, a major war will surely follow. “Peace will come to the Middle East one way or another,” he stated emphatically.

The Gaza Peace Plan: Key Points

The 20-point proposal from Mr. Trump was first shown to Arab and Muslim leaders. This happened during the United Nations General Assembly meeting in September. The plan then became public knowledge just last week. That’s when Trump welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House.

The plan focuses on turning Gaza into a “terror-free zone.” It demands that Hamas step back from any role in governing, whether directly or indirectly. In return, much-needed humanitarian aid would flow into Gaza, a place struggling with severe hunger. The plan also calls for Hamas to release all Israeli hostages and the bodies of those who died. In exchange, Israel would free 1,170 Gaza prisoners. These individuals have been held since the war started. Israel would also release 250 prisoners serving life sentences.

Another key part of the 20-point agreement suggests creating a “Board of Peace.” Mr. Trump would lead this board. Other international leaders, like former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, would also join. Their job would be to oversee Gaza’s rebuilding efforts. However, this peace proposal does not include any clear path toward creating a Palestinian state. This omission is a major point of disagreement. Many see the plan as favoring Israeli policies, which makes it a truly contentious document.
