Trump was released on bail after surrendering and being arrested in Georgia

Former United States President Donald Trump (2017-2021) walked out of the Atlanta, Georgia jail this Thursday just minutes after entering the country after agreeing to post $200,000 bail pay that his attorneys had agreed with the prosecution.

Prison authorities took the fingerprints and mugshot of the Republican accused of 13 counts of trying to overturn the result of Georgia’s 2020 presidential election.

About twenty minutes after moving in, Trump left the Fulton County jail in a convoy of armored vehicles escorted by the Secret Service, which is responsible for the former president’s security.

The former president traveled from New Jersey to the Georgia capital in the afternoon to fulfill the judiciary’s order, which gave him until Friday to voluntarily surrender.

This is Trump’s fourth indictment, but the first in which he has been called to jail and had a mugshot taken of him. In the previous three cases, he appeared to read the indictment before various courts.

Fulton prosecutor Fani Willis is charging the Republican with 13 counts for leading a conspiracy with 18 allies to reverse the results of the Georgia election, where Trump narrowly lost to incumbent Democrat Joe Biden.

The main crime he faces in the state of Georgia is violating the Criminal Association Law (RICO), traditionally used against the mafia.

He is also accused of having certain people pose as electoral delegates to confirm Trump’s victory in Georgia, when they knew he actually lost.

If found guilty on all counts, the former Republican president could face up to 76.5 years in prison.

One of the key pieces of evidence against him is a recording of a January 2021 call in which he asked Georgian Foreign Minister Brad Raffensperger to “find” 11,780 votes for him, one more than Biden got.

Trump considers all lawsuits against him a “witch hunt” and to this day persists with the hoax that he won the 2020 election.
