Trout decides for Angels with Hr in the tenth inning

Mike Trout hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Trout hit his 50th career home run against Seattle and his 31st at T-Mobile Park, finding a pitch from Diego Castillo (3-1) on a 1-1 count.

In three previous at-bats during the game, Trout had struck out. He ended up hitting his 19th home run of the season.

Seattle’s bullpen had retired 13 batters in a row before Trout’s home run.

Cuban Raisel Iglesias (2-4) pitched a perfect ninth inning for Los Angeles and Venezuelan José Quijada processed the tenth inning for the save.

It was the first meeting of a rare doubleheader in Seattle, just the fourth since T-Mobile Park opened in 1999 and the first with two games of at least nine innings since 2007.

For the Angels, the Venezuelan Luis Rengifo 4-1.

For the Mariners, the Dominican Julio Rodríguez 5-1 due to an RBI. The Venezuelans Eugenio Suárez 5-0, Luis Torrens 3-1, Abraham Toro 3-2.
